Dwight Arrington Myers passed on today at the age of 44 from causes unknown. This one goes out to you Heavy D.

With their debut album, Living Large, Heavy D & the Boyz were the first group signed to Uptown Records, the same label as such hip-hop giants as Guy, Jodeci, Mary J. Blige, The Notorious B.I.G, and Soul for Real. Heavy D and the Boyz broke out with a cover of the Ojay’s song “Now That We Found Love” and became household names with their opening themes for both In Living Color and MadTV, as well as Heavy’s appearance in Michael Jackson’s “Jam.”
