The benefits of perpendicular hard drive technology keep trickling down, where last April we first saw it used in a 300GB 3.5″ Seagate Cheetah drive. Now the technology has made its way into even smaller 2.5-inch drives from Fujitsu. The MHX2300BT series of SATA drives were created specifically for laptops, and will be available with 250GB or 300GB capacities, rotating at 4200rpm.

Next, we want to see this technology incorporated into a 1.8-inch form factor, for a drive whose capacity will dwarf the recently-announced 1.8-inch Toshiba 100GB drive that will fit perfectly into an iPod. Bring it on.
