The iPhone is popular. Not just here in the United States, but around the whole world. But depending on where you are, you might be paying a lot for it. This map of iPhone 5S prices across the globe shows the worst places to buy.
Put together by the folks over at Mobile Unlocked, the interactive map packs in a ton of data. Sure, you can see prices country-by-country in US dollars, but you can also switch to pound, include or exclude tax, and even see the price of a handset as a percentage of each country’s GDP per person.
Of course, this isn’t exactly a perfectly fair, apples-to-apples (har har) comparison; carrier subsidies affect a device’s unlocked price, exchange rates change, etc. Still, the price (for a 16GB iPhone 5s) is coming directly from local Apple Stores or official suppliers, so this is as close and in-depth look as you’re going to get.
