If Stanley Kubrick was somehow able to make 2001: A Space Odyssey in the year 2012, would he be able to release a trailer that captures the scope and majesty of his film? Or would the tale of humanity’s journey from one stage of development to the next be marketed as just another spacefaring action flick? The folks at Film School Rejects deliver an imaginary trailer for today’s 2001, recutting the original trailer in a way that calls to mind the recent spate of frenetic scifi trailers—especially those released in anticipation of Prometheus.
