It’s somehow only been a year since Wednesday season two wrapped up, but it feels longer, doesn’t it? Netflix might be aware of the attention lag on one of its most popular series, because today it dropped a fresh look at season three along with the news that filming has just wrapped on its woeful next installment.
The image doesn’t reveal much: it’s Addams family upstart Wednesday (Jenna Ortega) sitting at a typewriter, looking very serious (as always) with her signature braids (as always). Since season two ended on a bit of a cliffhanger, and season three was announced ahead of season two, we can guess certain storylines will continue, though Netflix’s Tudum blog also notes that it will include “suspicious new characters and spread its gloom to far-flung locations,” including, as was previously teased, a jaunt to Paris.
Newcomers to the cast will include Game of Thrones‘ Lena Heady and Penny Dreadful‘s Eva Green, as well as Andrew McCarthy, James Lance, Tim Burton bestie Winona Ryder, Chris Sarandon, Noah Taylor, Oscar Morgan, and Kennedy Moyer. Aside from Green, who’ll be playing Wednesday’s Aunt Ophelia, no character details have been revealed.
Other faces in the cast include Emma Myers, Hunter Doohan, Joy Sunday, Moosa Mostafa, Georgie Farmer, Isaac Ordonez, Billie Piper, Luyanda Unati Lewis-Nyawo, Victor Dorobantu, Evie Templeton, Luis Guzmán, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Joanna Lumley, and Fred Armisen.
So far there’s no release date on Wednesday season three, but surely we’ll be learning more soon.
