Roland Emmerich has not yet given up on his dream to shoot an Independence Day sequel, now with DOUBLE the alien punching. But first, the script to the sequel has to undergo a complete rewrite.
Deadline is reporting that ID2, which was allegedly scheduled for a July 1st, 2016 release date, is getting a total overhaul. Screenwriter Carter Blanchard has been selected by Fox to rewrite the sequel, which will take place many years after the day the Earth took back its independence from the invading aliens.
