Intel Core 2 Extreme Making a Beeline to Your Notebook

Mobile gamers, start saving your money. It looks like Intel’s Core 2 Extreme processors are about to make a leap inside your notebook. Part of the new Merom XE codename, the X7800 will clock in at 2.6GHz while its faster sibling, the X7900, will hit the ground running at 2.8GHz. Both will contain 4MB of shared L2 cache and operate over an 800MHz frontside bus. Pricing for the X7900 hasn’t been set yet, though the X7800 is expected to go for around $795. The chips are rumored to ship in Q2 and Q3 making gamers all around giddy inside.
