Sure, we associate the iPod and the iPhone with Steve Jobs, but in reality there were of course many people working on these devices’ creation. Tony Fadell was one of those people and he played a significant role in bringing the idea of a hard-drive-based digital music player to the market. Now he leaves Apple, the company with whom he managed to realize his vision with these parting words:

My primary focus will be helping the environment by working with consumer green-tech companies. I’m determined to tell my kids and grandkids amazing stories beyond my iPod and iPhone ones.

Best of luck to you, Mr Fadell, and thank you for the role you’ve played in creating some of our favorite gadgets. Let’s hope you have plenty of amazing stories for your tots. [NYT]
