Has DC Comics found its new publisher? Conflicting reports suggest that someone may have been found and that she may bring an impressive resume to the position.

Bleeding Cool’s Rich Johnston is reporting that former President of Scholastic Childrens Book Publishing and Distribution and executive vice-president of Scholastic, Inc Barbara Marcus is being courted to replace Paul Levitz as DC Comics Publisher. Marcus is credited by many as being the person who broke Harry Potter in the US, and brought her into contact with DC Entertainment head Diane Nelson. Deadline Hollywood’s Nikki Finke almost immediately refuted the rumors while DC itself made no comment (Although that’s not worth reading into too much; DC policy is to not comment on rumor for the most part), but Johnston merely pointed out Finke’s track record in being wrong in response.

The lack of news about DC Comics’ new publisher may be the reason why the promised January announcements concerning DC Entertainment’s future plans failed to materialize, but with DC Comics’ 75th anniversary happening this month, it’d be surprising if there’s no pressure internally for everything to be ready to announce in the next two weeks.
