Is the time of the Lego Doctor now?

After this round of Lego Ideas, there was much disappointment by Whovians around the planet when they announced The Big Bang Theory and Lego Birds Project were approved for a set design but the two Doctor Who projects, which both reached their 10,000 supporter goal, were not approved...yet.

The good news is that there are still whispers in the halls and rumors that Lego Doctor Who still has a chance. Even in the last Lego Ideas announcement video, Peter Espersen says,

The Lego review board is still considering if one of the two Lego Doctor Who projects should become a final Lego ideas project.

The Lego Ideas site still has the two Doctor Who projects listed as In Review while the BTTF - Jules Verne Train and Modular Apple Store are listed as Project Not Approved.

I think Andrew Clark's Doctor Who and Companions is wonderful and well executed, he even made a video showing the play-ability of the set. The other project, just Doctor Who, is sort of a catch all of the theme, started by Glen Bricker who is sort of a resident pro on Lego Ideas with several projects gaining support.

Both the AFOL and Doctor Who communities give a ton of support for this theme. I can't even count the number of Tardis builds I've seen just in the last year. There are stop motion videos like this one from bookshelf productions. There are 3D rendered videos that look like they'd fit right in as cut scenes for a future Lego video game like the one below from BlobVanDam. The product would sell to Lego fan and Whovian alike.

I think the rumors that Lego may be prepping a license are plausible for sure. I just hope that we don't have to wait until the next review process in 2015. We'd love to hear your thoughts, ideas and any rumors you have heard about Lego Doctor Who in the comments below.
