The iVDR Consortium simply refuses to give up in Japan, this time introducing SAFIA copyright protection, or “Security Architecture For Intelligent Attachment (device).” They are integrating this technology into existing iVDR components, which are essentially removable hard drives jammed in plastic and called disks. “iVDR Secure” standards have been created for 1″, 1.8″, and 2.5″ drives, where the 3.5″ drive standard is expected to be finalized in October.
