Actress Jaimie Alexander, best known for her role as the warrior goddess Sif in Marvel's Thor movies (the second of which opens this weekend), has confirmed she's in talks with DC and Warner Bros. about a possible role in Batman/Superman— but which one?

Alexander mentioned these talks during the AMC Movie Talk panel at Stan Lee’s Comikaze Expo in Los Angeles this past weekend, as well as confirming that she knows the plot of Batman/Superman. Perhaps most interesting is her thoughts on Wonder Woman, as revealed in an interview with Forbes:

I’m a huge fan of Wonder Woman. I really think if this is the closest that we’re ever going to get to Wonder Woman, then I’m proud to play Sif. I hope that other comic book entities can learn a lesson from Marvel in how to execute a female character the way it should be done. ... I really would like to one day see a Wonder Woman film or Wonder Woman character, but until it’s done with class, I’d rather it not be done.

Clearly, Alexander's performance as Sif would make her one of the most experienced potential actresses to play Wonder Woman; add to that the recent rumor that WB might be looking to introduce Wonder Woman in Superman/Batman, and it seems DC has finally chosen someone to play the world's most iconic superheroine. But! There are other rumors (from Latino Review) that Batman will have a love interest in Batman/Superman, and Jaimie Alexander also matches the description for that role.

I'm not sure what to think here. I totally believe DC/WB would try to poach Marvel's Sif to play Wonder Woman, if only to poke Marvel in the eye (they certainly had no problem hiring Cyclops as Lois Lane's husband in Superman Returns). I would like to think that DC isn't so foolish as to try to sneak Wonder Woman in a Batman/Superman movie, making her a glorified cameo as opposed to an integral part of the movie, but I have my doubts.

I do believe that DC/WB would be more than willing to make a movie where Bruce Wayne dates Diana Prince and has no idea she's secretly Wonder Woman, though. Sigh.

At any rate, Jaimie Alexander threw a bit more fuel on the fire when she tweeted this fan-made (and well-made) photoshop:

Sigh. No disrespect to Ms. Alexander, but the thinking of studio execs is so fucking simplistic it hurts. "Oh, you played a dark-haired woman who fights in that superhero movie, then you can play one here too." Yeah, that's the same thinking that lead to Bryan Singer directing a Superman movie simply because he had success with the X-Men. How'd that work out for you DC/Warner?

I mean it's a tremendous step up from simply plugging in the "Flavor of the Month" (remember the Lindsay Lohan rumors when she was hot?), but it's clear they aren't going outside the box with their thinking. You know, like how Marvel did with Robert Downey Jr as Tony Stark?

But all is this is moot given Snyder and Goyer are the architects of the cinematic DCU now. No matter who they cast it will blow.
