Imagine the power of Marvel super heroes combined with the popularity of anime. Okay, so anime isn't quite as big any more, but imagine it's an anime with a collectible toyline that doubles as a game, like B-Daman, Beyblade or Vanguard. A Marvel anime with a collectible toy-based game would likely rule the world, and now one is coming.
Marvel has just announced Marvel Disk Wars: The Avengers, which is being animated by anime powerhouse Toei Animation and will debut worldwide in Spring 2014. According to the press release, "The story will revolve around how The Avengers – Iron Man, Captain America, Thor and the Hulk together with the help of Spider-Man and a group of teens, will harness their respective fighting skills and superhuman powers to foil Loki’s scheme to take over the world."
The discs are a mystery at this point, but Bandai Japan is already set to make toys for the series, which I'm 99% sure will be some sort of game where kids use discs emblazoned with their favorite Marvel heroes and villains, and which will require kids to buy packs and pack of blind-packaged disc sets.
I'm calling it right now: Marvel Disk Wars: The Avengers will be the meth epidemic of this generation of children. Parents, start saving your money because you're about to pay for a lot of tiny plastics discs.
