In case you’ve suspected that your child has an above-average amount of midichlorans in their bloodstream, now you’ll have a cheap and easily-available way to check their Jedi potential: A real-life “Force Trainer.”

The toy, expected to be released this fall, uses a wireless headset to read the brain activity of its wearer before using that activity to make a ping-pong ball float up and down a tube… just like a Jedi would, if they were so inclined to make ping-pong balls float in tubes. And needed a wireless headset to do so.

Frank Adler from Uncle Milton Industries – the company behind the Force Trainer – explains the sci-fi lure of the $100 toy:

When you concentrate, it activates the training remote. There is a flow of air that will move the (ball). You can actually feel like you are in a zone. [Sound effects from the Star Wars movies] cue you in to progress to the next level (from Padawan to Jedi) or when to move the sphere up or down to keep challenging yourself.

As an added mark of faithfulness to the movies, once the player reaches a certain level, Hayden Christensen comes in and kills them while weeping tragically.
