Kelsey Grammer and Ron Perlman Are Trolls in Guillermo del Toro’s New Cartoon Trollhunters

Guillermo del Toro’s animated Netflix show Trollhunters has Kelsey Grammer and Ron Perlman attached to voice trolls. One plays a helpful troll and one a menacing one. Gee, I wonder which voice will play the latter?

Grammer’s playing a kindly troll who helps the human protagonist, Jim (Anton Yeltsin) while Perlman will be Bular, “a sinister troll who targets Jim and his friends for battle.” Of course he does.

Trollhunters, which shares a name and basic premise of a book by del Toro (but has nothing to do with the 2010 Norwegian movie Troll Hunter), is a series made by DreamWorks animation and will premiere on Netflix this December. It’s about a kid named Jim who, along with his two best friends, discovers the world of the trolls hidden under his suburb. Needless to say, Jim ends up involved in a battle between good and evil.

You can also tell from the description that Trollhunters is meant to be a family series and, since it’s going to be on Netflix, the real question is whether del Toro will end up making a show the family can binge together. Given his vision? Probably.
