We've been wondering which actress would be joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe as the lead in the Netflix series Jessica Jones. Now reports say Veronica Mars, Breaking Bad, and Don't Trust the B— actress Krysten Ritter will be playing the superhero turned private eye.
While there's no official word from Marvel, Deadline is reporting that Ritter has landed the role of Jessica Jones, the former superhero suffering from PTSD who decides to open up a detective agency. It's interesting to see that they've chosen someone with such a strong comedy background for a rather emotionally intense role, though I imagine we'll see a more Breaking Bad-style Ritter rather than something akin to her sitcom character.
Deadline also claims that Ritter was cast after doing a chemistry reading with Mike Colter, the actor who may be playing Luke Cage. Hopefully, she'll be able to do Brian Michael Bendis and Michael Baydos' Alias comics justice.
