The Avengers DVD will include a brand new Marvel short film called Item 47 — and we caught the first screening tonight at Comic Con. And not only was it funny and sweet, we came away wishing these two S.H.I.E.L.D. agents could have their own TV show.
Item 47 is centered around a Bonnie-and-Clyde-esque pair of outlaws, played by Jesse Bradford and Lizzy Caplan. If these two started reproducing we're pretty sure they would birth out a litter of bunnies — that's how cute they are. The short takes place right after the massive Avengers battle in New York City. The invading alien force (the Chitauri) has left behind a plethora of weapons (47 in fact). The S.H.I.E.L.D. agents thought they'd gathered up all the alien evidence — but of course, one weapon slipped through their suited fingers, and into the lawless hands of Bradford and Caplan. The couple uses said advanced technology to run around, robbing as many banks as they can. The short shows what happens with S.H.I.E.L.D. gets wise to these two kids antics. It also stars The Man in Black from Lost, Titus Welliver.
Overall, the whole thing is short and sweet — and leaves the door wide open for future shenanigans with Caplan and Bradford. There wasn't a single superhero shout out to be had inside this whole "one shot," but I didn't mind. The crowd at the screening, however, was hell bent on getting some Ant-Man answers, and fast. Will Caplan and Bradford be stopping by the bigger Marvel Universe in a movie cameo? Probably not any time soon, but they are both open to it.
Item 47 will be released on The Avengers DVD later this year.
