It's time to start getting excited about Pixar films again! The studio has just released the teaser trailer for Brave, the mystical tale about a little ginger-haired girl and her bow and arrow! Watch the gorgeous video now.

The first thing this Scottish princess has going for her is that director Mark Andrews was also the head of story on The Incredibles. We're very excited that Andrews is now getting his own feature film, and from the look of the teaser it's already starting to look pretty gorgeous.

And if the teaser doesn't win you over, this poster certainly will. It's just nice to have a new, mysterious Pixar film — that isn't a sequel — on the horizon.

This might be the "darkest" Pixar tease we've ever seen. Consider our interest perked. As for the plot of Brave, here's a synopsis we found:

Brave is set in the mystical Scottish Highlands, where Merida is the princess of a kingdom ruled by King Fergus (Billy Connolly) and Queen Elinor (Emma Thompson). An unruly daughter and an accomplished archer, Merida one day defies a sacred custom of the land and inadvertently brings turmoil to the kingdom. In an attempt to set things right, Merida seeks out an eccentric old Wise Woman (Julie Walters) and is granted an ill-fated wish. Also figuring into Merida's quest - and serving as comic relief - are the kingdom's three lords: the enormous Lord MacGuffin (Kevin McKidd), the surly Lord Macintosh (Craig Ferguson), and the disagreeable Lord Dingwall (Robbie Coltrane).

Brave will hit theaters August 17th, 2012.
