Motorola V3 Razr Available… In Australia

I don’t know who is screwing up the Razr launch: it sounds to me like it is something with Motorola themselves, not the carriers, as Australian reader Pat Cahill had problems getting one from Moto down under but was able to walk right into an OptusWorld store and get one off the shelf. And like I said a few weeks ago, I had seen them in grey market stores a few weeks ago, as well as from high-end import stores like Wireless Imports.

So I don’t know what’s up, but apparently the phone is out there if you look for it. It’s really nice looking, but I don’t know if it’s worth all this hassle just to buy it.

Pat shares his initial thoughts of the phone after the jump.

Update: So lots of people in the UK and France are saying “We’ve had that phone for a month, you knobs.” (more or less). That’s fine, but we’re still waiting on Cingular and Moto to get it figured out here in the US.

Pat says:

More nonsense with the V3 in Australia. Have been looking for it to come out since you firs t reviewed it. No storefront or estore has been able to give me an ETA for it, most hadn’t even heard of it.

Walked into an OptusWorld store on Saturday and bought one off the shelf. The clerk said she thought they had them in stock for about 3 weeks now. The crowning moment, as of this morning Motorola Au ‘s website still has the V3 promo with “Coming Soon”

Not sure if its standard but my box came with a c om puter link cable, car handsfree, carry case with belt clip & clip and most surprisingly a HS810 Bluetooth Headset (tho this ha d no documentation and even though I fiddle with a lot of tech stuff I had to find its model and get the pdf manual to set it up) and most oddly a Motorola tag on a lanyard that I assume is to be looped thru the phone or headset in case I forget who made them.

The phonebook still is subpar and there doesn’ t seem to be a way of emptying a “box” in their Java toy 3D phonebook, trying to delete something you put in there deletes the entry from your sim/phone too. The camera is slightly difficult to use (in portrait mode at least) too as it makes the shutter sound before it has captured the scene. You have to hold steady for a second or so a fter the noise to get the pic you want. The three function buttons on the side could have been easier to press in, I’m not sure if this was a design decision so that they wouldn’t accidentally be pressed.
