At the Intel Developers Conference—the company’s chance once per year to talk about more than just chips (but also chips)—Fossil along with Intel took the covers off its first wearable, an Android Wear smartwatch that still remains mysteriously unnamed.
We’ve known this watch was coming for awhile and in the looks department, it seems like the technological offspring of the round display on the Moto 360 (with that infuriating flat tire display on the bottom), with the hardware casing seen on LG’s Watch Urbane. Fossil’s watch, along with the Intel-powered Tag Heuer, are some of the first Android Wear-friendly wearables from traditional watchmakers—not technology companies like Samsung, LG, or ASUS. Fossil may also supply designs for brands like Georgio Armani and Michael Kors.
Fossil will also be introducing a connected bracelet and watch along with the Android Wear offering. Intel is still pretty hush-hush about the watch, which we’re expecting sometime this holiday season. We didn’t even hear a name let alone the specs inside, but with the Moto 360 flat bar at the bottom—bemoaned by many when it launched last year—it seems Fossil’s foray in Android Wear watches may be off to a rocky start.
