Lance Ulanoff of PC Magazine takes a look at the new Digital Pocket Memo 9250 voice recorder from Philips which saves its recordings as DSS files that can be transferred later to a PC and converted to Windows Media Audio files if needed.
The Philips device appeared to be the perfect tech tool for recording a lengthy interview in a cavernous and noisy ballroom. The 9250 is small, roughly 5.1-by-2.1 by-0.6 inches (HWD) and only 3.1 ounces, offers a decent frequency response (300 to 6,000 Hz), has 10 hours of battery life, and can record up to 4 hours of speech on its removable 16MB flash media card…The 9250 has a tiny microphone on its front, and it did a commendable job of picking up voices in the room and worked even better when I was within a few feet of my interview subject.
