Missing the cheesy, wise-cracking antihero action flicks of the 90s? Well, have we got a movie for you. Watch Guy Pearce channel his best Bruce Willis in this trailer for MS One: Maximum Security. When a maximum security SPACE PRISON riots, the only righteous person left is the wise-cracking cop with great arms and a problem with authority. Oh cheesy science fiction action movies, where have you been the last few years?

Originally titled Lockout, the film has now been renamed in this European trailer as MS One: Maximum Security (and we're hearing that it will be re-titled Escape From M.S. One in the US). This double director feature is spearheaded by James Mather and Stephen St. Leger. It was also co-written and produced by Luc Besson, which is where the decidedly Fifth Element vibe is coming from.

As much fun as this feature looks, we're still not sure what to make of it just yet. We've already seen a much more serious trailer for the same movie (although it utilized a lot of the same jokes). And we think it's safe to say that this version looks infinitely more fun. But will this movie be serious or silly? We're not sure. It's hard to straddle the cheese/drama line in action films, but if anyone can, it's Besson.

Here's what it's about:

A man wrongly convicted of conspiracy to commit espionage against the U.S. is offered his freedom if he can rescue the president's daughter from an outer space prison taken over by violent inmates.

Last we heard, Lockout would be out in theaters on April 20th 2012, but we're pretty sure it will have a new title by then.
