Walking down Third Avenue last night we spotted one of the new Internet pay phones that are starting to pop up around town. The pay phones are basically little kiosks for checking email and surfing the web at a cost of 25 cents a minute. Not a bad idea for the Treo 600-less masses who need to make a quick Google search, but what we really want to see is a pay phone WiFi hotspot where we can just pop in a quarter to get a minute of WiFi. Having to be a Verizon customer just to get access to their network of pay phone hotspots is annoying beyond comprehension.
