So we haven’t been able to determine the exact manufacturer of the Liebermann Hollywood laptop, but it appears to be the same unit being sold as the ABS Mayhem G1 and the Uniwill N258SA (and wouldn’t you know it, neither try to hide the black bottom of the machine in the pictures on their websites). Sager has a model, the NP 3760, that is the same unit as the old picture on the Go-L product page. Since most of the Go-L machines are built by Clevo or MiTac (and the Hollywood looks a lot like the MiTac 8060), it’s probably safe to presume its from one of those two vendors.
Why does this matter? Well, basically, it’s underhanded. It’s not like Go-L is the only one reselling these laptops, but they seem to be the only ones with shady marketing tricks like occluding the bottom of the laptop in their preview picture, while marking up similarly-spec’d laptops almost 50% more than their competitors—while offering little-to-nothing more in the way of value (check out the price difference between the Sager NP4780 and the Libermann Hollywood Silver 17″ linked in the I4U article below). If paying to get the exact same laptop with the little semi-precious Liebermann ‘l’ logo is worth an extra $1,000 to you, then knock yourself out, but don’t say we didn’t advise you to shop around. (Thanks to everyone that sent in links.)
