Nintendo's just confirmed that the Nintendo 3DS will launch in all major markets by March 31, 2011. No word on pricing or who—Japan, Europe, or America—gets to play first. One more thing, the 3DS' design might change.

Nintendo's Reggie Fils-Aime:

"You know typically, at an E3, our engineers are looking for feedback. You know, we have an army of Nintendo representatives out on our show floor talking to attendees, getting reactions to everything in the device: the depth slider, the buttons, the sliding pad that is, essentially, an analog-type stick. These are things that we're looking to get reaction to, including the overall button placement. When we get all that feedback, then we'll finalize the design"

Don't expect a big change from what we saw at E3. At most, maybe we'll get some different materials here or a new color there. [IndustryGamers via Engadget]

I really hope it is significantly earlier. I actually am wishing (however unlikely it may be) that it comes to the US in time for Christmas. How much earlier does the US usually get Nintendo products ahead of the rest of the world? I know Japan often gets first crack, but we usually have an edge over Europe right? It could be a 3 or 4 month difference couldn't it?
