We’ve already seen one bird-based hero of DC’s new live action Teen Titans show. So why not two more?
Warner Bros. has released the first look at a very interesting pair of heroes, Hank Hill and Dawn Granger, better known as Hawk and Dove, who will appear as irregular characters in the new Titans series. And honestly, for live-action superhero TV, they strike a nice balance between the bright spandex of the comics and the pleather-heavy “practicality” of the CW/DC universe of shows:
Played by Alan Ritchson and Minka Kelly, Hawk and Dove will first act as occasional guest stars on Titans’ first season, with the potential to become regulars in season two. If they’re received well, they could even spin off to their own show on Warner Bros.’ still-in-development DC streaming service. In the comics, Dawn was actually the second Dove, replacing Hank’s brother Don who perished during the events of Crisis on Infinite Earths. Their whole deal was that they both had different approaches to conflict resolution: As their superhero names imply, Hank is more prone to combative solutions, while Dawn favors using their abilities to find peaceful ones.
Titans is set to stream exclusively on DC’s still-untitled streaming service sometime next year.
