Paramount has signed on to release Area 51, the second film from Paranormal Activity director Oren Peli. Will box office lightning strike twice?

The movie, according to Variety, will leave little to chance; The movie, which finished shooting three weeks ago, is another low budget, high concept vehicle that will employ a similar “found footage” style to Paranormal Activity (This time focusing on three teens exploring the infamous Nevada military base). Paramount got the US domestic rights thanks to the involvement of their Film Group President Adam Goldman, one of the movers behind Dreamworks’ acquisition of Activity.

The movie is due to be released next year.
