Mappa, the studio responsible for the incredible, industry-leading animation in Jujutsu Kaisen and Chainsaw Man, is bringing its prodigious talents to Persona 4 Revival. And it’s not just doing an opening animation, like it did for Persona 5 Royal: Mappa will animate every in-game cutscene in the upcoming remake.
The studio announced this news at Anime Expo 2026, and also provided a sneak peek at a cutscene with protagonist Yu Narukami facing off against a Hablerie shadow. You can see a seven-second tease of it in the post below, but the full version is still available if you scroll back through the Anime Expo Lite livestream.

This is only the second time in Mappa’s history that the company has done all the cutscenes in a video game. (The first time was 2025’s Inazuma Eleven: Victory Road.) And even though Persona 4 doesn’t have the same level of violence and gore that Mappa has become so adept at producing, there’s still plenty of room for stylistic flourishes and badass animation. Persona 5 Royal’s opening did such a good job setting the tone for the game that the rest of the cutscenes paled in comparison. We won’t have to worry about that with Persona 4 Revival.
At the panel, Atlus also revealed that Abby Trott (Infinity Nikki) would provide the English voice of Rise in the game. She joins the previously announced English voice cast of Nazeeh Tarsha as Yu Narukami, Paul Castro Jr. as Yosuke Hanamura, Anne Yatco as Chie Satonaka, and Brianna Knickerbocker as Yukiko Amagi.
Persona 4 Revival releases on February 18, 2027 for Playstation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
