The latest SNL Digital Short features ex-cast member (and last weekend’s SNL host) Andy Samburg as a world-famous DJ who doesn’t do anything but press a single button on stage. It’s a hilarious parody, but it also tells the stark truth about DJs: Once they’ve put in the hard work of producing a track in the studio, their live shows aren’t really a performance so much as a glorified exercise in pressing play.

A few years ago, Deadmau5 was kind enough to let us publish his rant about how he doesn’t do much of anything on stage. Expensive DJs are full of it when it comes to the hard work the put in when they’re up there. It might be fun to have a famous person dancing all crazy to their own songs, but any old jerk could push those buttons.
