Samsung's Crazy Better-Than-Retina Display Series 9 Ultrabook Can't Get Here Fast Enough

Samsung is showing a 13-inch Series 9 ultrabook at IFA with a 2,560x1,440 display. It's only a prototype, but here is the only reasonable reaction to that bit of news: Hell f*cking yes.

The Series 9 is the most beautiful laptop out there. It's prettier than MacBooks and ZenBooks and BookBooks. But the screen was one of the things holding it back this year. Not anymore. The 2560x1440 display should have a DPI of 225—denser even than Apple's 15-inch Retina MacBook Pro, which has 220. Folks at Samsung say that some of the other issues, like the throw depth of the keyboard, are being nudged back into place too. All of which goes to say, hopefully, hopefully, the next Series 9 you see will be a beautiful retina monster with an awesome keyboard and a change of pants for when you poop a little because it's so damn amazing. I hope this does two things:

1) Pushes everyone to make screens of higher resolution than 1366x768 the standard in laptops costing more than a couple hundred dollars.

2) Pushes higher end machines ($800 or so and up) to have screens of this resolution as at least an option (without costing $2k like a Retina Macbook).
