Scarlett Johansson's SodaStream endorsement just came at a price; she's been ousted as an Oxfam International ambassador, with a spokesman citing "a fundamental difference of opinion" as her reason for stepping down (read: fired) from the international humanitarian organization.
Controversy started surrounding the actress's partnership with the group as soon as she came out in support of SodaStream, a company Oxfam has staunchly boycotted due to its factory in Israeli-occupied Palestinian territory. After Johansson finally released a statement on the matter this past Sunday saying she was a “supporter of economic cooperation and social interaction between a democratic Israel and Palestine,” Oxfam responded that it would have to reconsider the (significant) role Johansson plays in their organization.
Well, it looks like they made their decision, and ScarJo is out. Sorry, "stepping down." You can read all about the controversy surrounding SodaStream's practices down below. [Washington Post]
