Despite the innate strangeness of robotic babies, researchers keep dang-darn building them. The latest entrant in the Uncanny Valley Sweepstakes is iCub, a robot that had previously demonstrated its proficiency with a bow and arrow.

Now iCub’s masters are demonstrating this learning robot’s capacity to crawl around with a massive umbilical cord/power strip lodged to its back. This is bit of a bizarre step back for iCub, given that his creators were grooming him to carry the Olympic torch.
