If you were among the bazillions who became obsessed with Sarah Koenig’s Serial podcast, which was spun off from This American Life, time to rejoice: the popular show will return for two more seasons, during which it will report on two brand-new cases.

In an email newsletter sent to subscribers, host and exec producer Koenig shared the news:

We are hard at work reporting not one, but two distinct new stories. This means we’re planning on a third season of Serial. And we hope it means we can reduce the amount of time between the end of Season Two and the beginning of Season Three. As it stands, we intend to launch Season Two this fall and Season Three next spring. Sorry - we can’t tell you details about the new stories yet. What we can say is that they’re very different from Season One, but no less interesting to us.

If you missed out on Season One, about the 1999 murder of a high-school student that’s still in the appeals stage, you can listen to all 12 episodes for free here.

I like Sarah! And I usually like her stories, and the way she talks.

But Season One of this show was just so freaking boring...

12 episodes about this damned kid...jeez.

Narrative structure was great! But the story itself was mind numbing. And that ending! Ugh...
