Shanghai’s Dream Cube Is Even More Awesome Than Anticipated

Often, overzealous renders get our hopes up for architectural projects that never quite stun the same way in person. But Basil Childers’ first photos of Shanghai’s Dream Pavilion are even more impressive than the initial renders promised.

The facade is 100% LED array, but the exact pattern is constantly in flux, dictated by those inside (clapping and arm waving, for instance). In this way, the crowd is constantly shaping the experience of their environment—which, not-so-coincidentally, is exactly how the world works.
