The universe is very big and some parts are very old and if we somehow exist on a planet that’s relatively young, aliens must also exist somewhere. But where the hell are they? Kurz Gesagt tries to figure that out in this lovely animation explainer that touches on The Fermi Paradox and different types of potential civilizations.

I mean, if they’re out there, they should have found us by now maybe. It’s an enjoyable thought puzzle to get yourself in.

Kurz Gesagt:

The universe is unbelievably big – trillions of stars and even more planets. Soo… there just has to be life out there, right? But where is it? Why don’t we see any aliens? Where are they? And more importantly, what does this tell us about our own fate in this gigantic and scary universe?

As I watched this, I couldn’t help but notice two anime references.

Magnemite from Pokemon, and the Sidonia colony ship from Sidonia no Kishi.

Did anyone happen to notice any others? Outside of anime, I noticed the NCC-1701.
