Skywalking: Russian Teens Risk Death for Daredevil Photos

Illustration for article titled Skywalking: Russian Teens Risk Death for Daredevil Photos

This latest teen photo trend might be the clearest illustration of the difference between Russia and America. We lie down on stuff. They pose, or Skywalk, hundreds of feet in the air with nothing between them and the sudden splat of failure.

Skywalking is the new Russian planking, basically, but it's also totally freaking nuts. This seems to have been going on at some level for a while, but the trend is growing in popularity. And seriously, look at some of these shots.

Here's a video of one of the above-shots being made, but there are tons more on YouTube. They're breathtaking, in the sense that it makes it hard to breathe even several thousand miles away in an office chair. Udachi, young Skywalkers. [Caters via Sun, MNN via Petapixel]

When I was a kid we would climb to the top of Radio towers and hang over the edge. We laid on the rail road tracks in a lower space while the train passed over. If there was a bridge to jump off of or an adventure to go on I was there. I'm still like that and so are my kids. Some people say it's stupid. I think there are just the warriors/adventures that see a challenge and the civilians that are just happy living a normal non adventurous life. One thing I think is crazy and something I would never do is a mindless office jobs that are so very important right up until the company has mass reductions to increase stock profits. I'm just glad that their are people that will work those jobs.
