Is the 5th time the charm for Sony? We’ll see later this fiscal year, which ends March ’07, when they release yet another digital music player to compete against the iPod. Sony hopes save their flagging audio player business, as its music player sales have across the board have decreased 6.2% in the last year.
We think it may be the Network Walkman series, which look like USB Sticks. At this point, another flash based music player isn’t going to make a dent in the iPod’s marketshare unless it does a whole lot besides just playing music.
