The Interview hasn’t just had its premiere canceled, Sony is putting everything about the film on ice. Variety quotes a Sony spokesperson as saying “Sony Pictures has no further release plans for the film.”
Of course this is not to say that Sony Pictures will never ever ever release the film (though that’s still a possibility) but at the very least, hopes of an in your face! on-demand release, or even a timely DVD sale appear to be out of the question. It seems like The Interview is going nowhere fast. Except maybe up in a torrent. [Variety]
