It’s not quite on sale yet (next month, they say), but the Subtle Safety ring is probably going to be a big seller among women whose commute or daily routine puts them potentially in harms way, like subway riders or professional assassins. Unfolding from a single ring, the Subtle Safety transforms something a little like a set of brass knuckles, and a little bit like a nasty scratching device. However it gets used, the three pointed metal tips look sort of unpleasant to catch in the face—hopefully that would be enough to discourage creeps from getting creepy.
I think it’s a great idea, but I have to wonder how kindly some organization like the NYPD would take to anyone wearing a set of brass knuckles on the subway. Maybe it’s so subtle they’d never notice. (Thanks, Joshua!)
