Computer broke? Chances are, if you’re calling Geek Squad, or any of the other PC repair places, you don’t know a geek who loves you enough to fix your machine, and you’re screwed beyond help. That’s why I got a chuckle when I heard of new competitor’s Support.com’s engineering staff has been programmed to have “empathy”. They’re more like therapists than straight up geeks. And since your computer is shit canned already, you might as well get a virtual hug out while they take you for your pizza money. The online consultation is free, but most of the services are kind of expensive. $30 dollars to for a “Vista Upgrade” consultation? Oh well. The price of computer illiteracy.
