At least two sites have information about this VRX MPEG-4 recorder this morning, but neither one have proper links to the manufactuer’s site, so your guess is as good as mine. The ideas seems to be a simple recorder that can write directly to Secure Digital and MemoryStick cards, allowing for quick and easy encodes that can be watched on your PSP or Game Boy (provided you have a Game Boy video cartridge). Unfortunately, it only records at a maximum of 15 frames per second—that might be handy for conserving space, but it would be better to have the option of going higher if desired.

Update: Here is what seems to be the Japanese press release.
Update: Brad offers this translation after the jump:
Not all that much info, but the other two write-ups say there is only 2 recording modes, which is incorrect.
The media recorder is built by Kaga Electronics (http://www.taxan.co.jp) and put out by Rockridge Sound Japan (http://www.rockbridgesound.co.jp). It goes on sale this summer with the price to be somewhere around 15,000Y.
It can record video into MPEG-4 via AV cable. It’s got SD card and Memory Stick slots and can record into 3GPP/3GPP2, ASF, and MP4 video formats. It can do 30fps QVGA size in “Superfine” mode, 15fps at QVGA size in “Fine” mode or 15fps in QCIF size in “Normal” mode. Audio is in stereo (only 1 mode available). The maker estimates that in “Fine” mode, a 64MB stick can hold about 1 hr. and a 256MD stick can hold 2.5hr.
The recorder can output video that can be viewed on mobile phones from NTT Docomo, au, Vodaphone as well as portable game consoles like the PSP and Nintendo DS.
