Last week North Korea launched a satellite into orbit. But now, just a few days later, New York Times is reporting that it’s probably already dead. That didn’t take long.

We knew that the satellite was out of control, but now radio astronomers are saying that they aren’t seeing any signals from the satellite. The news hasn’t been reported by North Korea’s state-run media, presumably because they’re preoccupied with the one-year anniversary of Kim Jong-il’s death and because haha seriously like they’d say anything was a failure, ever.

As dangerous as it is to have more space junk flying out of control in our orbit, at least we know we’re not being spied on from Pyongyang. [New York Times]
