The Best Use for an Old iPod Dock

Have an old iPod dock lying around? It’s not entirely useless with your iPhone 5 and its new lightning connector. All you need is a cheap Bluetooth adapter and you’re back in business.

The Wirecutter recommends the I-Wave, which you can find for about $21 on Amazon. It has a 30-pin port on the bottom that you click onto the dock. An indicator light in the top corner tells you that it’s working.

Wirecutter also tested adapters called CoolStream and Wave Jamr, but found I-Wave to be unbeatable for the price. Like the CoolStream, it has about a 25-30 foot range, but it’s $15 less. And you don’t have to buy a new iPod dock, which is nice considering if you looking into this, you probably just spent a couple hundo on a new iPhone 5. [The Wirecutter]
