The Eerily Powerful Gaze in Stanley Kubrick's Films

It’s deeply unsettling when a character from films by Stanley Kubrick locks eyes with you through the fourth wall. They’re not entirely breaking the barrier but they do make it uneasy, like they know that we’re watching them. It’s a fairly common shot in his movies, which you’ll see in this video showing ‘The Kubrick Gaze’ which was put together by Jorge Luengo Ruiz.

Jesus Christ that was annoying.

I was expecting some useful commentary about the Kubrick stare, not a siezure-inducing series of repeated cuts to the same repeated shots that tell me nothing except that the editor likes to make unwatchable videos.
