Thanks to DC's Diamond Previews solicits for January 2015, the next person to step into the green boots of Batman's sidekick Robin has been revealed. Since it's a spoiler, the reveal is after the jump — but I do feel confident the new Robin's identity will not shock you. Something else will, however.
Ready? Yeah, it's totally Damian Wayne.
Bruce Wayne's son Damian, killed early last year by his own insane clone (with help from writer Grant Morrison) will be resurrected in Batman and Robin #38 after the "Robin Rises" arc comes to a close. Seeing as Batman has spent one of his series doing nothing but trying to bring his son back to life — even teaming up with longtime foe Ra's al Ghul — and the fact that superheroes in general and Waynes in particular never stay dead (Martha wasn't a Wayne by blood, so she doesn't count, apparently) this was all pretty expected. What wasn't expected is this:
...Damian has superpowers now. Or at least he's bulletproof. I have no idea how I feel about this, although I do wish Bruce Wayne would get sucked into another time portal so Dick Grayson could be the good-humored Batman to Damian's angry, kill-happy Robin again. That pairing was magical.
In other news, apparently Superman's getting a new outfit courtesy of John Romita Jr. in Superman #38. DC managed not to prematurely reveal it in Diamond, however, so we'll have to wait to see what it looks like. For a bit, anyways.
