We have four PCs spread throughout our apartment, so it’s no surprise that we’d be interested in the LongView, a new gadget from Avocent that lets you use a single keyboard, monitor, and mouse to connect to and control several different computers. What’s new about the LongView is that it uses a proprietary version of 802.11a to do all this wirelessly, and Avocent claims it can be used to connect PCs up to 100 feet away. At $995, this isn’t exactly in the price range of the home user (we could buy a fifth PC for that kind of cash), so they’re aiming this more at corporate IT data centers and that kind of thing.
