Phones are getting bigger; some are even too big for pockets. So what’s the answer to your too-big-to-use-as-a-phone issues? A mini Bluetooth phone that connects to your real phone, of course. Or at least that’s what HTC thinks. Meet the HTC Mini+. Yeah, that just happened.
How on Earth we’ve got to the point where we need a mini phone to connect to our gigantophones, just to make phone calls, I have no idea. The Mini+ looks pleasant enough, in a dumbphone kind of way and, yes, I suppose it does solve a real problem. But wny not just get a smaller phone in the first place?
HTC’s had mini phone Bluetooth accessories before, but the Mini+ can do even more now. For instance, you can use it as a shutter release button; it can become a real remote for your TV thanks to an in-built IR blaster, and there’s even a laser pointer and a PowerPoint clicker so you can look like an absolute business badass in your next meeting. It’ll set you back around $80 once it’s available in the near future.
But that’s not all HTC’s got up its accessory-hulking sleeve. The HTC Fetch is like a phone locator for your keychain. It pairs with your phone and prompts it to ring at the push of a button, just in case it’s slipped down the back of the sofa or something. It’ll work up to 15m away, and will run you about $45, which is quite a lot to drop unless you happen to constantly lose your phone in the confines of your house.
