Time and time again we’ve cautioned you against buying coffee pod machines like the Keurig, but what if one is gifted to you? Instead of just settling for bad coffee every morning, you can do what Evan Booth did and rebuild it into something else, like a functional robotic bionic hand.

This isn’t some weekend build project for the everyman, unfortunately. Using just the parts from a sacrificed Keurig K350 coffee maker, plus glue and a 12-volt power supply, it took Booth a few minutes shy of 200 hours to realize this clever bit of recycling, which he affectionately named Hedberg.

The fingers and thumb on the bionic hand can all open and close, and its grip is strong enough to lift a glass not filled with coffee since this machine’s days of making terrible are long gone. But the clever transformation is most certainly for the best.
