PRISMIQ is coming out with a new version of their Media Player digital media adapter that will be able to record TV shows like a TiVo, not just stream audio and video files from a PC. The kicker is that the Media Player/Recorder won’t have a hard drive of its own — it’ll save everything either to a network attached storage device (like Ximeta’s NetDisk, for example) or to the hard drives of the PCs it’s connected to via the home network. The MP/R, which should be out by May of next year, will also have a slot in the back for adding an 802.11b or 802.11g wireless networking card.
