The PSX, Sony’s extreme version of the PlayStation 2 with a DVD burner and a hard drive for recording TV shows, came out in Japan last week, and apparently it’s turning out to be a bit of a disappointment. We mentioned the other day how Sony removed some features from the PSX at the last second, and the AP quotes an analyst who calls the hybrid console more of a “publicity stunt,” than anything else, and that he expects sales to plummet after a month or two. The article points out that given the price of the PSX, you could probably save money just buying a PS2, a DVD recorder, and a digital video recorder separately.
